Rose Study No. 35: Turn Exercises
For those learning how to use side trill keys, this is an exercise built for the specific challenge presented in Rose 40, Number 35. Enjoy!
Very very help full.
This was terrific! Not only did it break down the technique for Rose #35, it showed how any passage might be dissected into small pieces and easily reassembled for performance. It's the essence of all practice, elegant in its simplicity. Thanks for good teaching, a rare and valuable service.
Michael makes a great point about 1) focusing on the details (which judges are looking for!) and 2) starting slow. This exercise sheet (we well as the similar idea for the Mendelssohn Scherzo video) help the player by creating a visual of what needs to be played. It works in these instances. And it worked when I applied the ideas playing the Bartok Contrasts (those trills in the second movement!!!!) and Debussy Premiere Rhapsody. Simply put, this is a great tool to improve your playing.
