Yeah, we think $150 is kind of silly too, given how expensive these instruments are. So, I'm going to make it less silly: Earspasm is offering an additional rebate on any new Buffet clarinet through the end of 2024. The RC Prestige Eb clarinet is probably the most popular Eb clarinet with professional orchestral players. The RC bore has poly-cylindrical sections similar to the R13, but unlike the R13 bore, the RC is mainly conical, especially in the lower section, which gives the RC a different playing feel. Specifically, the sound of the instrument “opens up” more than the R13 — and if you look inside the bell with a measuring device, you may see why: it is scooped toward the top of the bell which continues the flare from the lower joint more aggressively. (Wow, “aggressive” is such an “aggressive” word.)

For some, Buffet's Greenline material is ideal — it won’t crack from humidity or temperature variations. The "regular" material is, you guessed it, solid Grenadilla. Which should you get? Well, it depends on how much of a purist you are vs. how much your Eb clarinet is going to sit on a peg during rehearsals in a drafty hall and/or what your home climate is like. For some, there's no substitute for solid wood, for others the trade-off is worth the peace-of-mind about cracks.

Q: Does the instrument come with a warranty?
A: Yes, it comes with the Buffet warranty against cracks, etc. If you ever have any problem with the instrument, I’m your quarterback. I’ll take care of the whole process, just let me know you need help, and I’ll take it from there.

Q: What happens if it’s damaged during shipping?
A: Inspect the package before you sign off at delivery! If there are any issues resulting from shipping, we have taken out an insurance policy to cover damage (and loss). But we need you to document this damage or we can’t do anything to help. Please read my trial policy for how to handle this issue, should it arise.

Q: If I decide to return it, do also I have to pay return shipping costs?
A: Yes. And you will also want to insure it!

Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yes, but please contact me first for the shipping cost. I will adjust the cost based on your actual address. International shipping costs vary, and range between $300-500 USD. Please note that you will be responsible for any Customs Duties.
