Miniput Tablet & Sheet Music Stand
Miniput Tablet & Sheet Music Stand
The Miniput is a super lightweight aluminum tablet stand — or sheet music stand, or both! — that collapses into the size of a small, portable umbrella.
You can watch the full review below (which also compares it to/against the WoodWindDesign Carbon Fiber Tablet Stand), but here are the TL;DW highlights:
The thing is LIGHT. Like crazy light. Weighing in at just under a pound (450g) it easily fits in an external pouch of a bass clarinet (or Bb/A double case pouch), or, you know, a backpack. Or a purse. It's small and decidedly unbulky.
The main part of the stand has a telescoping aluminum stem attached to a base that three aluminum legs screw into. These three legs extend for stability.
The Miniput will hold your tablet even if you have a big 12.9" iPad. (If you don't have an Apple tablet, It will accommodate any tablet with a width up to about 9.5 inches (24cm)). The tablet clamp swivels 360º around the X axis (parallel to the ground), and Z axis (like spinning a steering wheel), and has a Y axis (tilt) adjustment of 0-75º, which is more than enough flexibility for just about any playing situation. (Remember: tilting 90º would point your tablet straight at the sky, so if you like to hover while playing, this stand might not be ideal.)
The optional Sheet Music Desk consists of a folding aluminum frame with a fitted piece of fabric that slides onto the frame. This means it is also very compact and lightweight. Like the Tablet Clip, the Sheet Music Desk spins around the X axis 360º, and has a the same tilt dynamics. Of course, it doesn't spin around the Z axis, because that'd dump your music on the floor.
Raise and lower the stand using five twist-and-lock rods, which work well and lock nicely into place with a click. Maximum height is 47 inches (119cm) which is about 4-5 inches (10-12cm) less than the Carbon Fiber stand. I'm 6 feet (183cm) tall, and it works okay for me. It'd be perfect if I was under 5' 10", but I also prefer my stand to be eye-level, so take that into consideration.
So, to be super-duper clear: the Miniput comes with the tripod stand, tablet clamp, and carrying bag. The additional/optional Sheet Music Desk comes with the aluminum frame and fabric back.
