Vandoren Traditional Baritone Sax Reeds - Singles
Vandoren Traditional Baritone Sax Reeds - Singles
Note: These are priced per reed. One of 'em. (Not a box. Though you're welcome to buy 5 of them, and I may just throw in the box for free)
Ahh, the Traditional cut. These are the originals, and they used to come in a purple box (which is why some people—myself included—still call these the "purple box" reeds, and not the "blue box" reeds). Ideal for intermediate or advanced players.
Feel free to buy single reeds—I don't charge a premium for breaking up a box, so you can just buy a few, or mix and match. Seriously no one else does this.
For those doing math, I price these reeds as one-fifth of a normal box of 5 reeds. But you don't need to buy a box to get this discount!

Single-serve reeds allow one to match reeds to a new mouthpiece without spending a fortune on whole boxes. This is as described...an orphan reed. I purchased several different styles and strengths and now my blended reed family will help figure out what kind of sound and what works best for a bari sax.
As an orphan reed, I expect the reed has already experienced the lonliness and toughness required to survive and even thrive in a practice room. When the reality sets in that only one reed will make it to the stage, this reed won't be discouraged. It has already experienced difficulty and shown that it will not be deterred.
When the time comes that this reed makes it to the stage, the overwhelming sense of accomplishment from where it started to the highest level is heart warming.
Give a little orphan reed a chance.
